I'm throwing my BFF a party for her bday. Its going to be pretty small with 15-20 people there. We are going to pregame at a friends house and I am arranging everything.

Although there is no real theme, I was thinking of a fiesta b/c I know I definately want to make Frozen Melon Margaritas. Since I will be using tequila for that, I was thinking I could make Tequila sunrises and everyone can take a traditional tequila shot.

For the lighter drinkers I was thinking of having some mexican beer like corona.

but I need a few other drinks to be available with other liqour. I was going to purchase vodka, rum etc and make other drinks but I don't know what kind to make that wouldn't clash with the other drinks.

Please give me some suggestions!

Thanks!

  1. Sangria

1 large orange sliced, 1 lemon sliced, 1 lime sliced, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup brandy, 1 six ounce can frozen pink lemonade thawed,

1 quart red wine, 1 quart rose wine, 2 cups soda water

Place orange, lemon, lime, sugar and brandy in a 3 quart pitcher and let sit 2 hours. Add remaining ingredients except soda and chill several hours.  Before serving add soda. Serve with or without ice.

    yields 3 quarts

You can also buy Sangria already prepared at the bottle store.

If you prepare lots of sliced fruits it will really top off many of your foods and drinks everyone will remember the party for sure. It is the little extra things you do that make a difference.

also do as much ahead of time as possible so you can party along with your guests.

  2. You can't go wrong with Captain and Coke - it's a party staple!

I wouldn't worry about drinks "clashing", people will just drink what they like.

sangrias would definitely keep with the Mexican fiesta type theme

    mexican pina coladas

and don't forget lime wedges for the coronas

don't forget those who don't drink-if they will be invited.  You can just get soda for them or if you want to keep with the theme you can make a batch of non-alcoholic sangrias or margaritas.  Or you can buy those Mexican sodas or something.

  4. I think your pre-arranged drink plans are enough.  If you want to have a few other liquors there, thats cool.  get some generic mixes.  Coke/diet, sprite, OJ.  A bottle of vodka, rum, and maybe Jack or something. That way if people don't like your choice of tequila and coronas, they have another option.  Good thing, if it's at your house, and there are leftovers, they're yours.

OR just do like you planned with coronas and tequila drinks, and have people bring a bottle of something to share, with an appropriate mixer. that way, you don't go broke trying to supply.

  5. I suggest Mango Margaritas instead of melon (alot of people don't like Midori) ......  You could have a selection of bottled wine coolers.  They come in many flavors that would be tropical;  and bottles of Mike's Hard Lemonade

  7. For your light drinkers you could do Tom Collins, lots of people that don't drink much seem to enjoy this drink. I know I do.

  8. How about sangria, it's relatively light.  Perhaps, a bottle or two of sparkling wine.

  9. Maybe some Sangria? With all of the beautiful fresh fruits available now it would be refreshing and in keeping with the Hispanic theme.

Also, some nice chilled Chablis or lighter white wine...?

Your local liquor/wine store can help you with some choices, too, if you ask them.
