  1. Games: Assuming the party is this summer, it'd be fun to do something involving water --- set up a sprinkler or fill up water balloons or get some squirt guns.

Decorations: Balloons and streamers or banners are fine; hang balloons outdoors from poles or signs or trees. Put streamers on trees or along your roof. A banner saying "Happy Birthday!" is always fun, too.

Food: Kids always go crazy for pizza, so order a couple toppings. If for some reason you don't want to do pizza, grilling things like hot dogs & hamburgers is always a huge hit if you have the time and patience. Put out some snacks, too, like chips & dip or fruit.

I threw a surprise party for my older brother, once. I told him that there was a really weird bird outside that he should come see. As stupid as it sounds, it worked. Just keep it simple and not too obvious.

  2. Get your parents in on it and have your mom take her shopping or something.

As far as what to do...pick a theme and then go for it! There are so many - just tie the decorations to that. For food, just cake and ice cream, chips and dips are all that are necessary.

Games can depend on the theme, if the party is inside or outside, and if it is girls only or with guys too.

    Good luck!
