Hi and thank you for offering your time to answer questions. I am looking to see how various manufacturers of thrust reversers (Goodrich for example) price their products in the market. Do you have any sources I might consult?

  1. www.ils.com

    Inventory Listing Service.

Its a subscription service where many brokers ans manufacturers will list their stock.  Call them for a price quote.

  2. Like every product, thrust reversers are priced to what the market will bear. What thrust reversers are you interested in?

  3. I always thought they came with the engine.  Are you asking about parts for thrust reversers?  did you want some for your motorcycle?  Just kidding.

  4. John B is not quite correct.  There are only a few TR manufacturers, principally Goodrich/Aircelle/Middle River (Or is that now Goodrich???/Hurel Hispano.

Whilst these companies are in competition with each other, the true rules of supply and demand are not in force.  As a result TR are extremely expensive.  They are actually very complex pieces of kit and it is not easy for an A/c manufacturer to enter the TR market.  The certification etc. is a massive task.

Each TR must be certified to run on a specific engine too, so if say the A/c is being offered with a RR engine or a P&W, the almost identical TR will need two certs.

So yes, the price reflects what the airline is prepared to pay...but that is still quite high on a $ per pound (lb) ratio above the ordinary business model for other complex bits of kit.
