I have a 2004 Mazda 6. There is a little over 60,000 miles on there. (Mostly freeway). I got new tires around 40,000 and new breaks around 50,000. Both were the replacements of the originals. When I drive down the road my car began to make this thudding/thumping sound. I'm not sure what the cause is, but it seems to be in unison with the rotation of the tires. The faster I go the faster the thudding becomes and vice versa .kind of like this dud....dud....dud...dud..dud.dud.dududud... haha.. Any help is greatly appreciated. I am taking it a mechanic next saturday (today it thursday) should I be concerned that I may further damage things?

  1. possibly a wheel bearing you should be all right till saturday,o yeah check the wheel studs now....

  2. You may have a bent wheel or a few.  My Mazda just came back from the shop with the same problem.  It only showed up after I had the tires rotated and moved the bent one to the front.

  3. chck youre tires there might be a lump on it or ran over something and got stuck on tires..if the sound seem to go more rapidle as you progress dowmn the road ..its more likely that its your tire..brake noise is more like grinding noise or squeeling ...bearing on your hubs can also make grinding noise..hope this helps
