Thunder Child and Kirbys Glen to collide after nearly a year in the London Inn At Watchet Handicap Chase at Taunton
The Class 4 London Inn At Watchet Handicap Chase is to be hosted by Taunton over two miles and three furlongs on Monday, 12th March. The eight five-year and older runners will invade the track in order to get entitled to the £4, 224 purse.
Thunder Child, Cloudings’ twelve-year-old grey gelding out of mare Double Dutch, has improved drastically through the two starts that he has made during the new season.
Thunder Child’s seasonal debut was in the Attwood Memorial Trophy Handicap Chase on 22nd February at Ludlow over two miles. The race was won by Akarshan who was riding with Adam Wedge with five lengths in their favour.
The 7/4 favourite runner up of the race was Esteem and had Park Lane following closely at the heels.
Thunder Child himself was stationed fourth behind the winner.
A few days gap into the second start of the season, Bathwick Tyres Yeovil Handicap Chase on 8th March at Wincanton over two miles, had Thunder Child finishing second, a jump from the fourth position to the runner up’s honour in the course of two races.
The race went under Mon Chevalier’s belt, who took charge of the field nine lengths before the wire. Catching up with third position was Knapp Bridge Boy.
Unwanted Gift, the 3/1 favourite of the race, ended fourth.
Last time the twelve-year-old won was in the Bet On Live Sport At Totesport.Com Handicap Chase on 12th April 2011 at Taunton over two miles and three furlongs.
He was 15/8 favourite winner of the race while riding with Andrew Glassonbury and dominating the field of six by eleven lengths. The runner up of the race was Kirbys Glen while Run For Moor settled into the third place after the winner.
Today, after nearly a year, Kirbys Glen and Thunder Child will encounter each other again and how would the positions turn around this time, cannot be said just as yet.
Kirbys Glen has been racing at Taunton throughout the previous year and is up for his seasonal debut today thus it will be certainly a close one between the two today.
