Hi. I have to do a five-paragraph essay that's a compare and contrast one. My teacher said it had to be on thunder and lightning. If someone can give me some valid information that I can use for the essay, including the sources, I will give you 10 points. I just really need help!

  1. Music!  "thunder only happens when it's raining..." Fleetwood Mac,  "thunderbolts and lightning, very, very frightening..." Queen...Well, you get the idea.  Five paragraphs should come easy.

  2. Good question. Lightning is the cause; thunder is the effect. Lightning heats the air to near 54,000 F, some 5 times hotter than the Sun. This creates a very quick expansion of the air producing a sound wave as the air is compressed and moved out from the channel of the lightning bolt.
