Thundering Home likely to thunder in Apprentice Handicap
Thundering Home will thunder with his sheer potential at Newbury racecourse in an effort to finish first in the Chris Beek Racing Apprentice Handicap that is going to be held today, May 18. The Class 5 contest over a distance of 1 mile, 4 furlongs and 5 yards is scheduled to commence at 4:55 (GMT).
Pursuing the prize cheque worth £2,588, the Richard Mitchell-trained grey gelding will compete against 11 competitors including O Ma Lad, Lady Rosamunde, Trend Line, Lady Of Burgundy, Warne’s Way, Tijori, Beggers Belief, Resplendent Alpha, Darsan, Prohibition and Eastern Magic.
Thundering Home possesses a decent track record. The five-year-old veteran horse has won 5 of his total 39 races so far. The maverick sprinter excellently gained an epic triumph on February 24, 2012. He stepped ahead to grab a 4th and a 5th position in the month of March.
Earlier, the brilliant son of Storming Home out of Citrine Spirit had achieved a superb victory on December 28, 2011. Thus he is awash with confidence and enthusiasm at the moment. If Thundering Home runs to his best and makes an accurate use of his capabilities, he will have up to 90 percent chances to finish first in the Handicap.
Lady Rosamunde will too struggle hard for success as the Marcus Tregoning-trained grey filly holds the highest betting odds for today’s showdown. The four-year-old young and talented runner elegantly finished as a runner-up in each of the first three races of her career.
After getting a 4th spot on April 5, she broke her maiden on April 29, 2011. The brilliant sprinter finished 3rd in her last start on April 20, 2012.
Darsan is also likely to do well today, Phil McEntee’s fantastic filly marvellously notched up first position in her last outing on May 10, 2012. She looks to be fairly ardent to make a big impact in the Handicap.
Thus, Thundering Home will have to face some gruelling challenges in his way towards the finish line. The race will be thrilling enough. Let us go for the fabulous action. Good luck to all the runners.
