My husband has me alittle concerned. Our baby is two and a half weeks old. I was breastfeeding but he was always crying so I was told the breastmilk might not be rich enough for him so I alternater formula and breastfeeding and he does seem better. But my question is his tongue is always white looking. Even is he isnt eating. Is this normal since he does eat frequently to have a continous white tongue? He doesnt act like he is in pain. I am not sure. Please give me some advice. thank you in advance

  1. wipe his tongue with a clean cloth after feeding or call your doc they have something for it if it does not clear up

  2. He needs a bit of water. My son got this at an early age as well and the pediatrician told me to make sure he had a teaspoon of water a day to rinse his mouth and tongue of the milk residue, hence: Thrush.

You can put it in an eye dropper, or in a bottle.

Don't put a cloth in his mouth. You don't know what might be on it, even if it was freshly washed. A baby is very susceptible to diseases and infections.

  3. My daughter had thrush when she was a few weeks old. Take him to the doctor and they will prescribe something for him. It isn't painful at all but do not try to scrape it off of his tongue becuase it will bleed.

  4. It probably is thrush if his tongue is always white. It can be irritating or painful for the baby. Its a yeast infection of the mouth. Take your baby to the pediatrician, they can prescribe drops.
