Question:

Thyroid support?

My blood tests showed a teensy weensy slight variance in my thyroid. The doctor said if I wanted a very low dose of medication, if I had any symptoms, which I don't, I could have a prescription.

I had a horrible experience with Levoxyl so I'd like to avoid drugs.

Is there any natural supplement or vitamin I could take instead?

  1. I'm the same asyou...tests showed very slight hypothyroid, no bothersome symptoms at the time (years ago) but started to notice sluggish metabolism, etc.  Still minor symptoms but I didn't want to take prescription meds.  I started taking Thyroid Strength by Nutritional Therapudix (can't remember the website but it's available in health food stores) and noticed a difference right away.  I think it helps your body use the thyroid harmone in your body more efficiently.  Hope this helps.

  2. if you do not have hashimotos, which needs medication in order to not progress, than I would wait until you do feel the symptoms, although, taking synthroid is nothing. there are different fillers by each manufacturer, so perhaps you can look at the ones you took and see why you had a bad experience. yahoo health groups has a thyroid group that may be able to answer some questions. also, (FYI) with your history, I would work closely with and endo and gyno when you are having a baby, since hypothyroid issues can cause miscarriage and fetal development problems.
