my tivo said that it only has one more day left and then it will stop recording, and not when you press guide it says like to be announced. i checked and we have 2 more years on our contract. what is the matter??

Make sure it's plugged in to the phone line and that the phone line is working...although it'd probably tell you about that...so your hard drive could be full of programs, although normally it deletes programs as it goes.

who's your tivo through? is it an actual TiVo branded box or something else you're just calling a TiVo?

You need to do a programming download.

Tivos need to download content info so it knows when to record. Plug in a phone line to the back of the unit and go into the menu under settings/phone and network connection.

In there is the "connect to tivo service now" option, do that and it will call on your phone line to download the content via modem.
