Tianyi Pei, Yilv Wang guide China to semi-finals of Asian Junior Championships 2012
China’s Tianyi Pei-Yilv Wang led their country to semi-final round of Badminton Asia Youth Under-19 Mixed Team Championships by beating Hsiao Lin Wu-Chih Lin Wang on July 1, 2012.
This 47-minute encounter was the third tie of a quarter-final match between Chinese Taipei and China.
Men’s Doubles experts Tianyi Pei and Yilv Wang sealed a splendid victory with 23-21, 14-21 and 21-17 margin as they helped their country to perform a clean sweep.
They bagged first and last segments of the show while the opposing team could live up to their billing only in the second set of match.
The Chinese campaigners opened their marathon with a brisk attack and outclassed their opponents in all areas of the game.
They established a decent lead without wasting any time and enjoyed the upper hand all the way to half time.
They prevailed in four uninterrupted rallies and reached at dominating position of 7-3. They did not lose this rhythm and finished first half with a respectable total of 11-7.
However, second half was full of drama as Taipei shuttlers switched on the best in them and made this contest memorable with a commendable effort.
The twosome of Hsiao Lin and Chih Lin made swift progress from 9 to 13 on points table before catching their rivals at 14-14 score position.
Both teams remained close until game point situation but Tianyi and Yilv made the difference with a tight yet decisive total of 23-21.
Next game changed the scenario completely as the losing couple of previous set tipped the scale in their favour with a staggering performance in the second set.
Hsiao Lin and Chih Lin stood tall in this tense situation and blew away their opponents with a strong back-lash.
They gained an early advantage of five points which remained unconquerable throughout this crucial game. They bagged the second set with a notable seven point difference in concluding figure of 21-14.
The decider kept swinging between the two contenders until game point situation as none of them could establish a permanent lead.
However, this nerve-racking race ended when Chinese duo gathered the ending four points of the decisive 21-17 margin.
