My 9 year old had a tick on him. He removed it but there is a red spot. Does he have to go to the doctor or do we wait and see if he runs a fever?

I have never had to deal with this before.

I made him rub Purell on it then we put Neosporin on it.

  1. Ticks carry all kinds of diseases, many of them can be easily cured if you catch them early. Take a picture of the bite, if it changes, get another picture. Save the tick in rubbing alcohol, if possible. If he gets sick in any way,get him to a Dr.

  2. if he doesn't get a fever i wouldn't worry about it , i got them all the time as a kid and it never had any ill affects on me

  3. Check the site tomorrow and see how it looks and check his temp

  4. Take your child to the doctor.

Ticks can cause health risks and sometimes people believe the tick is removed when in fact it is not. As well, symptoms of illness can take a while to show. Don't take that risk with a child and do take him in.
