Question:

Ticket: Do I call Insurance now?

I put a more detail on law forum but thought to ask here too.

Do I tell my insurance now or wait til I get a notice in the mail with more in depth: fine and options etc?

Infraction. 10mph over 55mph speed limit. Anyone know approx fine? (No tickets in past 4 years. Never a speeding. Worst was no turning signal/blinker).

Details:

Moving out of state in 2 weeks.

Getting new policy as California policy doesn't carry over into another state as AAA insurance says.

Possible might get traffic school if option. Won't know til I get the letter, to which can take up to or if not more than a month the lady from the info line said.

  1. No need to ..they will run your motor vehicle report on a regular basis.

  2. Why would you call?

Sometimes it's best to let things ride,.....

if you want to call someone, call a traffic lawyer, pay a bigger fine, get the charge reduced to " unauthorized  parking"

  3. Why ask for trouble ?  The best thing to do is to not make any changes whatsoever to your policy.  Do nothing that will cause them to look up your DMV record,  No address changes, no coverage changes, Nothing !

  4. 10mph over 55....ha....

    I say fight it...

10mph is the calibration error for a laser\radar measuring system.

I fought mine with some technical knowledge about the device and got the ticket rescinded. The cop did show up and was stunned.

  5. i answered your question in the other category also. you are elegable for traffic school since you have not attended in less than 18 months. DO NOT CALL AAA if you don't go to traffic school your new insurance company will find out about the ticket when you renew your policy.

go to the court and request traffic school. do it on line and mail certificate to court.

  6. Answer simple, first call your county clerks office and see if you qualify for traffic school, if you do, your totally safe. As soon as you get confirmation do traffic school right away.  Your certificate will be sent to the court and they will remove a potential point from your record.  This way you don't even have to call your Insurance company because they will never know about the ticket.  If you don't qualify for traffic school, then call yoru Insurance company and ask for forgiveness on the ticket.

Since it looks like you are going to do traffic school, I would recommed doing it ON-LINE with http://www.TicketRelief.com. They were quick, easy, and affordable.
