Tickets for London 2012 Olympic Games to be sold after April 24
It has been recently revealed that the sale of tickets for the upcoming London 2012 Olympic Games as well as Paralympic Games have been delayed.
The reason given by the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games is that no suitable date for the launch of the remaining tickets have yet been decided.
There are a total of 4 million tickets that are still remaining to sold. Out of these, one million include those of the Olympic tickets while 1.5 million are the football tickets. The remaining 1.5 million tickets are for the Paralympic Games.
According to Paul Deighton, who is the chief executive of the London organizing committee, the remaining tickets will not be sold until after April 26. The London 2012 Olympic Games are set to start from July 27 and end on August 12.
Deighton expressed himself by making the following comments, “The reason I cannot tell you [ticket numbers] exactly is because every day we are finalizing how many it will be. As we finalize the very last details of the seating plan there will be more seats
that become available. The schedule is not finalised because what we want to do is to make sure that it is after the football draw. It helps to know who you are going to watch when you are buying football tickets so we have pushed the sales back to after that
on April 24.”
The release of tickets cannot be done any time earlier because it would clash with other series of events. According to Deighton, the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games has its hands full with Olympic test events.
Not only that, the LOCOG officials have a command post exercise to conduct as well. The command post exercise aims to test the communications, control as well as command systems for the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Having given the reason for the delay of the ticket sales, it has also been made clear by the officials of the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games that the delay is not related in any way to the ticketing site, Ticketmaster.
