  1. I highly doubt the reliability of that, though I can't say I've tried it...According to my source, "There is no registered or effective bat repellent available. Some companies will try to sell anything - there's a lot of so-called bat-repellent or bat-away products on the market, but they are bogus."

So, the best way to get rid of them I assume would be to get a professional. How did it get into the house? Did it fly through in open window or door? Or is there some other entrance way/crack/space that needs to be sealed off to prevent more bats from coming in (bats can fit through smaller spaces than you think)?

If it came in from an unknown place, look for possible cracks anything could fit through and seal them off somehow, either with wood, wire mesh, or something better for the purpose.

If it just of course a single bat you've seen but don't know how to get out, try using the method in the second source. If you throw a towel over it when its on the ground, it won't be able to fly yet won't be hurt. Then, simply scoop up the towel and release it some distance away from your house, preferably near a tree. Of course though, read the article in the second source as to make sure you have all safety precautions in mind.

Hope I helped, and good luck.

  2. Open the window and the bat will fly out on their own.
