Is the ocean better for swimming during high tide or low tide?

I always thought high tide had alot of sea weed.

  1. the only thing the tide affects is the depth at which your swimming, more water, deeper, less water shallower. sea weed and kelp usually do not know the tides.

  2. High tide is better as there is more sand. At low tide there is more mud and sometimes broken glass. I usually swim when it is getting to be high tide, until the tide goes down half-way to low tide--in that way i get to swim and enjoy myself longer; moreover it is safer.

There will be the occasional sea weed, flotsam and little rubbish, of course at the water's edge at high tide.  But you are swimming several metres down the beach in waist or chest-high water, so they shouldnt bother you. You should also spend some pleasant times sunbathing or playing beach games. It is not so enjoyable to do extended swimming in the water due to the waves, as you would in a public swimming pool.

    Hope this helps.
