Tien Chen Chou beats Rajiv Ouseph in an epic semi-final contest at Bitburger Open Grand Prix 2012
Tien Chen Chou, one of the most decorated shuttlers from Chinese Taipei, reserved his berth in Men’s Singles final after defeating England’s Rajiv Ouseph in a nail-biting semi-final contest at Bitburger Open Grand Prix 2012 on Saturday, November 3, in Germany.
The impressive Tien Chen, who is seeded at number five in the main draw of the championship, worked to his maximum potential and overpowered his higher ranked English rival in a thrilling three-set contest that ended up in 53 minutes.
Taipei shuttler could not cope up with the speed of Ouseph in the opening game but played with precision and took the following sets to end up the contest in three sets with a close margin on score board.
On the contrary, the third seeded Ouseph started the contest in a dominating fashion but failed to maintain his rhythm on court and ultimately went down against Tien Chen in hard-fought three games with a decent margin.
Ouseph played with phenomenal control in his shots and managed to take over the pace of rallies at the initial stage in opening set.
English shuttler proved that he has obtained top class skills on court and ultimately successful in getting a strong domination in the arena.
Until the one-minute break, Ouseph was in complete control of rallies and he took a wonderful lead.
After the break, Tien Chen tried his best to stop the progress of his higher ranked English opponent but failed to put up strong show and eventually lost the set with a 14-21 score on the board.
However, Tien Chen did not lose his concentration in the following set as he played with speed and remained ahead of his rival until the beak.
After the interval, Taipei shuttler remained on track and eventually won the game with a four-point advantage of 21-17.
In the decider, both players stayed close on the board all the way until the score reached at 21-21 when Tien Chen showed his brilliance and scored ending points to grab the set with a close score of 23-21.
The in-form Tien Chen sealed off victory in a nail-biting fashion by finishing up the semi-final contest with a tight 14-21, 21-17 and 23-21 score on the board.
