Tien Chen defeats Pakkawat Vilailak in pre quarter-finals of 2013 Austrian International Challenge
Men’s Singles shuttler Chou Tien Chen stretched his winning streak in the Austrian International Challenge and marched into quarter-final round on February 22, 2013.
He was up against Pakkawat Vilailak and their meeting lasted for 51 minutes before ending with decisive figures of 21-12, 19-21 and 21-12.
The Taipei campaigner established his grip by winning first set and then served the notice of his supremacy by sealing the ending segment of the showdown.
On the other hand, Pakkawat had to face a woeful defeat despite of putting an honest in every set of the match.
In the opening game, Tien Chen did not give his rival enough time to get settled and confounded him with a brisk attack.
He did not lose focus at any stage of the game and doubled his total in next couple of rallies. He got into commanding position by piling up a convincing total of 11.
After the mid-game break, Tien Chen gathered some pace and widened the gap on the points table. He maintained that upper hand all the way to final moments and registered a winning margin of 21-12.
However, the story was entirely different in next game as the Thai player showed a transformed character and brought the contest to right balance.
This time Pakkawat did not repeat previous mistakes and established a decent lead without any delay.
He played with an authoritative approach throughout the first half of the set and tipped the scale in his favour with a figure of 11.
After one-minute interval, Tien Chen prevailed in couple of consecutive rallies but his fluctuated performance the biggest trouble in his way to straight-set victory.
Meanwhile, Pakkawat struck hard when it mattered and claimed this crucial match point with 21-19 score on the board.
Third set started with couple of gruelling rallies as both shuttlers made every effort to gain an early advantage. However, the Taipei contender showed superior finishing skills and locked the honour.
He placed an overwhelming margin of 21-12 and setup his quarter-final clash with Kazumasa Sakai of Japan. He is in high spirit to make into final rounds of Austrian International Challenge.
