Tien Minh Nguyen finds his winning rhythm back in Chinese Taipei Open GP Gold – Badminton feature
Tien Minh Nguyen, who is one of the most accomplished shuttlers in the history of Vietnam, has found his winning rhythm back after struggling hard for almost six months and managed to win the Men’s Singles title of last week’s Chinese Taipei Open GP Gold
2012 in Chinese Taipei.
The experienced Tien Minh, who has been positioned at number 13 in Men’s Singles world placements, showed his aggression in the Chinese Taipei Open and remained successful in proving his supremacy in the arena.
Tien Minh played with remarkable precision throughout the tournament as he did not show any mercy to all of his opponents and remained successful in winning the title in a completely dominating fashion.
The impressive Vietnamese shuttler was flawless in his play as he did not drop even a single set in all of his matches which indicates that he has elevated his skill and have shown a remarkable improvement in all departments of the game.
Second seeded Tien Minh got bye in the Men’s Singles first round and he was up against Hong Kong’s Nan Wei in the second round.
The Vietnamese was in tremendous form as he did not show even a slight mercy to Nan and won the match in straight games with a crushing margin on score board.
In the Men’s Singles round-of-16, Tien Minh took on Malaysia’s young and talented shuttler Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin who was also in good form.
Tien Minh showed his tremendous craft on court while playing against his Malaysian rival. He was impressive in the execution of shots and eventually remained successful in finished off the contest in straight games with a remarkable difference on the board.
At the quarter-final stage of Chinese Taipei Open, Tien Minh locked horns against Hong Kong’s Wing Ki Wong who was sixth seed in the main draw.
The higher ranked Tien Minh was in staggering form as he did not spare any chance for Wing Ki to create a strong impact at any stage in the match.
Wing Ki tried his level best to play attacking badminton but failed to remain positive which helped his rival to build lead.
In the meanwhile, Tien Minh stayed calm and composed on court and he played with greater level of confidence and managed to end up the fight in straight sets with a convincing difference on score board.
Tien Minh continued his winning run in the tournament in a staggering fashion and was up against Malaysia’s left-handed shuttler Wei Feng Chong.
It was another battle in which Tien Minh showed his brilliance proving that he is at his best. He took the bird early and dictated his rival in all areas throughout the match and won the match with an inspiring margin on the board.
In the final competition of this championship, Tien Minh was facing the local shuttler Tien Chen Chou who had the support of home crowd in all of his matches.
The second seeded played planned and positive badminton and he spared no chance to put up strong show. He was in commanding position and managed to finish up the title match in two games with a striking margin.
Tien Minh claimed the title in Chinese Taipei Open proving that he still has much badminton left in him despite the growing age. He is one of the most refined shuttlers of current era who can beat any top shuttler on a given day.
