Vietnam’s top player Tien Minh Nguyen made his home fans happy by playing remarkable badminton in Men’s Singles quarter-final when he easily tamed Kento Momota of Japan at the Yonex Sunrise Vietnam Open 2012 in Vietnam, on Friday, August 24.

On the other hand, the un-seeded Momota could not stretch his impressive winning streak as he failed to overpower his higher ranked local opponent and bowed down to him easily without showing his lofty craft on court.

The in-form Vietnamese shuttler was in pretty good control of the pace and he dictated his rival in all corners. He remained focused and took a wonderful lead at the end of first half.
After the break, the local player continued his elevated performance on court as he played with precision and eventually ended up the first set with a stunning 21-14 score on the board.
In the second game, Momota showed glimpses of his brilliance as he played with aggression and did not allow Tien Minh to set up a comfortable lead at the opening stage.
However, the top seeded Tien Minh changed his tactics and played wonderful game at net which helped him to manage a reasonable gap until the break.
After the mid-game interval, the higher ranked Tien Minh remained positive and confident in his attacking play and eventually finished off the set with a decent score of 21-18.
