Tien Minh stamps Zavadsky Dmytro in Men’s Singles encounter of 2013 Sudirman Cup – Badminton News
Vietnam’s talented and spirited shuttler, Tien Minh Nguyen, stretched his winning streak in the Level 3 of Sudirman Cup and thrashed Zavadsky Dmytro of Ukraine on Friday, May 24, 2013.
This Men’s Singles tie remained in full swing for 44 minutes and the Vietnamese player managed to seal a splendid straight-set victory with a favourable result of 21-13 and 21-12.
Though, Zavadsky had a great start in both segments of the showdown but his below par performance proved the biggest hurdle in his way to success. His failure left a negative impact on the morale of his team
members and they also surrendered tamely in their respective matches.
Things went out of his hands straight away in the beginning of first set as World Number 10 Tien Minh unleashed a flurry of power packed strokes and gained a decent advantage.
However, the Ukrainian campaigner showed some spark and ruled the court in next couple of rallies. He was in commanding position before the interval and it was felt that Zavadsky will create challenges for his
opponent.
At the half time, both contenders were standing close on the points table but then Tien Minh switched on the best in him and turned the tables. At first, he claimed few consecutive points and widened the gap;
then he strengthened his grip with a series of productive strokes in third quarter of the set. He registered a winning margin of 21-13 and moved to the next game with high spirits.
The second set of match proved just a replay of previous one as the Ukrainian shuttler served the notice of his potential in the beginning and then disappointed his supporters with an ordinary knock. On the other
hand, the Vietnamese player showed consistency in his performance and wrapped the showdown in a favourable manner.
Tine Minh raised his chances of success by ruling the court in preliminary stages and then transformed this initial advantage into an unassailable lead. He played with great precision and finished first half
of the set with a decent total of 11.
He did not show mercy in remaining part of the game and won this tussle with scoreboard flashing a concluding figure of 21-12.
