Swansea City newcomer, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dwight-Tiendalli-c11774 has hailed the Swans style of play, pointing out that it was similar to the way football is played in Holland.
The Welsh club signed the Dutch International as a free agent as a cover-up for the injured Neil Taylor.
The left-back suffered a serious ankle injury during the Swan Premier League match against Sunderland. Consequently, he was sidelined for the entire season.
His injury forced the manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Laudrup, to ransack the market in search of a player without a contract, who could best fit in as a replacement for the Welsh footballer.
After a couple of days of search, the Dane claimed the signature of the 26-year old, who completed his stipulated deal with his former club, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233, at the end of the 2011/12 campaign.
While talking to the reporters during an interview, Tiendalli unravelled his excitement on joining the Welsh outfit.
He praised the Swans unique style of play in the Premier League, and observed that it had a lot in common with the way football was played in Holland.
Swansea are renowned for their short passing and possession retaining brand of football. Their offensive-minded playing philosophy has led many into comparing them with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604, and also earned them the nickname of ‘Swanselona’.
“The way Swansea play is typically Dutch. I watched them on TV before I signed,” he told the reporters.
“We learned to play from the back, to the midfield and then to the forward, rather than from the back and then a long ball. I think Swansea play like that as well, starting from the back and trying to play. I like that.”
After serving out his contract at Twente, the defender was offered a new deal by the Dutch club, which he turned down.
Tiendalli is expected to feature in his side’s upcoming league game against Aston Villa on Saturday.
Even though he was excited about beginning his EPL career, he let slip his sadness over Taylor’s injury, and hoped that the player will be able to make a speedy recovery.
“For me it has worked out well, but for Neil it is very bad. He is a good player and a young player doing well, so for him it is very bad he is injured for a year,” he added.
