Tiffany Joh heavily obsessed with favourite players
Tiffany Joh, who played as a rookie on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour in the 2011 season, has said that she is heavily obsessed with her favourite players.
Acknowledging her admiration for big names in women’s golf, Joh said that she is often star struck while playing with players she has always idolised.
She said that her likeness for other players often overshadowed her plans for the game on the course, causing her to lose concentration. However, she said that she has now overcome this.
The 25-year-old American was keen to point out that she gets overwhelmed by the thought of playing with her favourite players, but this has not kept her from doing her best on the course.
The new season has started but Joh remains concerned as to what lies ahead. Her amateur career has been outstanding, as she racked up a number of stunning victories.
She grabbed the headlines when she won the Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship — a feat that helped her revamp her game.
Since Joh plays on the LPGA Tour and Future Tour, she soon became a rising star in the eyes of her fans and observers.
The 2010 season brought a big surprise to the American, as she recorded her lone victory in the ING New England Golf Classic.
Another professional victory Joh boasts is the South Shore Championship in July 2011. She carved out a 2-stroke triumph against her nearest rivals.
Although she has made plans for the current season, she said that she will have to focus more on her game rather than what other players are doing, no matter how great they are.
“I am someone who gets starstruck easily,” Joh said. “I think it was a week in and week out thing, being paired with someone else who I was a huge fan of. I wouldn’t leave them alone”.
She said that she has played with a number of competent players, which has given her a much-needed boost.
Sharing her experience with Laura Davies, Joh said she “played with Laura Davies, and I was obsessed with her as a little kid. She’s just as amazing in person as she is on TV. Honestly, I’m still kind of in that phase”.
