Tiffany Oliver and Kelsi Hall dominate Women’s 50m freestyle gold – USA Swimming Sectionals
Tiffany Oliver and Kelsi L Hall of Unattached-FG clinched gold medal of the Women’s 50m freestyle on day three of the 2012 USA Swimming Sectionals in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, July 14.
Oliver demonstrated her astonishing efforts in the first half of the single lap freestyle discipline but her pace was matched by Hall in the second half and they appeared on the finishing end for a joint first.
Both swimmers tried hard to surpass each other over the finishing end for gold medal but failed to escape each other and hit the finishing wall with identical efforts of 26.11 seconds for the crown of the event.
Their title-claiming effort remained just 0.01 seconds faster from Sarah Bateman of Patriot Aquatics, who secured bronze medal of the discipline by producing a time of 26.12 seconds.
Fourth position of the 50m event was obtained by Chin Pigot of Metro AC Miami-F, who remained two strokes apart and transpired on the finishing blockade with the timing of 26.57 seconds.
The 19-year-old Pigot was trailed by Harper Bruens of Fla Aquatics-FG, who stayed 0.13 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher as she sprinted her way towards the finishing wall with the timing of 26.70 seconds for fifth position.
Subsequently, Bruens was followed by Julie A Stupp of Performance Aquatics-F, who was only 0.07 seconds apart and cruised her way towards the wall as sixth fastest finisher by submitting a time of 26.77 seconds.
Seventh position of the single lap race was obtained by Ashly Isaacson of West Florida Lighting, who stayed 0.60 seconds apart and completed her race by producing an effort of 27.37 seconds.
Following that, the 19-year-old Isaacson remained marginally ahead of her closest swimmer Carla A Robles of Metro AC Miami-F over the finishing end. Robles remained 0.39 seconds slower from upsetting her former finisher and tapped the wall with the timing
of 27.76 seconds for eighth position.
In addition, Oliver was pleased with her timing in the 50m discipline and received a huge round of applause from the audience for her notable efforts at the medal ceremony of the tournament.
