Tiffany Oliver claims Women’s 100m freestyle gold – USA Swimming Sectionals, Fort Lauderdale
Tiffany Oliver of Unattached-FG claimed gold medal of the Women’s 100m freestyle on fourth day of the 2012 USA Swimming Sectionals in Fort Lauderdale on Sunday, July 15.
The 19-year-old Oliver demonstrated her astonishing efforts in the double lap freestyle discipline as she snared gold medal of the event. She faced tough battle from Harper Bruens of Fla Aquatics-FG in the first half but managed to overpower her pace in the second half and ended first.
Oliver remained in a lead of half body length her over subsequent swimmer and tapped the wall with the timing of 57.05 seconds for gold medal.
Her title-claiming effort remained 0.50 seconds faster from Bruens, who secured second position of the discipline by producing a wonderful time of 57.55 seconds.
The second position holder was chased by Lauren Driscoll of Swim Ft Lauderdale, who stayed 0.35 seconds behind and occupied bronze medal of the discipline by posting a time of 57.90 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was obtained by Alex J Merritt of Area Tallahassee, who remained 0.53 seconds apart and tapped the wall with the timing of 58.43 seconds.
Similarly, Merritt was trailed by her team-member, Delaney Barnard, who stayed just 0.30 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and settled on the finishing wall as fifth finest swimmer by clocking a time of 58.73 seconds.
Sixth position of the event was secured by Ashly Isaacson of West Florida Lighting, who was 0.26 seconds behind and completed her race with the timing of 58.99 seconds.
The 19-year-old Isaacson was chased by Carla A Robles of Metro AC Miami-F, who remained 0.92 seconds slower from overpowering her former finisher and transpired on the finishing wall as seventh fastest finisher with an effort of 59.91 seconds.
Robles was trailed by Lydia Ware of First Coast Y-FL, who stayed 0.07 seconds slower and hit the wall with the timing of 59.98 seconds for eighth position.
In addition, Oliver was contented with her accomplishment on final day of the tournament and said that she would continue her training to achieve the same at superior levels of sport.
