Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk and
David Toms leading US Open, Luke Donald and Rory McIlroy out!
Round 2 of the US Open saw three golfers taking the lead, as the tournament enters exciting stage.
Tiger Woods, Jim Furyk and David Toms are on the top of the leaderboard and share the lead after the second round of the US Open.
They all have seen major championship victories and this time, it is tough, as all of them are looking very impressive.
Woods started off the US Open with excellent stroke play and his precision was a sight in the first round. He has been tagged as a troubled golfer for a very long time now and after his win at the Memorial, he is back with a bang.
Woods was behind Michael Thompson in the first round and it was pretty clear that he would be leading in the 2nd round, after the quality of play that was seen at his starting play-off.
The three-time US Open champion has gotten a hold on his old form and is determined on being patient and focused throughout the tournament.
“You have to stay patient, got to stay present, and you're just playing for a lot of pars. This is not a tournament where we have to make a bunch of birdies. You have to just hang in there with a bunch of pars,” said Woods.
On the other hand, the current world number one Luke Donald has missed the cut in round 2 and has disappointed the Queen and the entire England fan lot.
He had a little too much pressure on his shoulders and it was obvious in the second round of the US Open that he has given up.
The biggest disappointment was when last year’s US Open champion Rory McIlroy missed the cut. He was looking impressive after his performance at the St. Jude Classic but failed to defend his US Open title.
This year, Woods has outshined every golfer and has proved that a bad phase can be dealt with hard work and passion. It was crystal clear because Woods has been focusing on the right aspects of golf and has put the criticism to rest with his level of play.
The battle re-ignites in the 3rd round of the US Open as Furyk, Toms and Woods fight to get the US Open title.
