Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson grouped together for the US Open
The 14-time major winner Tiger Woods, the left handed Phil Mickelson and the reigning Masters Champion Bubba Watson have been grouped together for the opening two rounds of the US Open, schedule from June 14 to 17, 2012.
It is now rated among the best groups to be featured in the second major event of the year at the Olympic Club, in San Francisco.
Andy North, one of the renowned golf analysts, said that it will become difficult for the broadcasters to cover each and every shot by these players.
"I think that's what you look for there," North said. "In the past, Tiger and Phil played some pretty good golf when they've played together. But this is a golf course that, if you get concerned with other things, this is a golf course that can eat you up
pretty quickly".
North also believes that the competition at the Olympic Club will be intensified due to the wind factor expected during the next one week.
"They've added some distance since (the) '98 (Open), and it's really a wonderful test," North added. "The weather is going to have a big impact too. You can have some of the marine layer come in. It could be wet and cold. It's going to be a great test".
The golf commentators have started speculating the hugeness of galleries where this group will head during the tournament.
Curtis Strange, a golf analyst from ESPN said that the golf fans will have difficulty in watching their favourite players because of the huge crowd expected to appear for the specified group.
All the three are currently enjoying a good form on the PGA Tour, especially Tiger Woods, who recorded a victory in the Memorial Tournament a couple of weeks ago.
It was a good sign for his fans who are desperately waiting for the 15th major victory of his career. Now, he looks in perfect shape to achieve that mark this year.
Mickelson withdrew from the Memorial because of the mental fatigue he had after a stretched schedule on the PGA Tour.
He told that he wanted to take some rest before the US Open, as he does not want to enter the field with a tired mind and body.
