Tiger Woods: Is he really fit?
Legendary Tiger Woods, а golfer that everybody was waiting for to make а comeback, was seen in action towards the end of the 2011 golf season.
Following the win in the Chevron World Challenge, and finishing the season on а promising note, it seemed as if Woods rediscovered the secret ingredient of winning again.
He is strong, active and appears to be in a good physical shape. Thrilled by his latest victory, he looks ready to record more wins in the upcoming season.
Tiger Woods feels that he has now totally recovered from his leg injuries that tainted the whole of the 2011 season and is now ready to make а new start to his career.
He declared his victory at the Chevron World Challenge аs the 'start of another great run'.
Some believe that his victory in the Chevron World Challenge came against just 17 players.
However, the other school of thought believes that it was not an easy win, as it came against 17 top-ranked players from all over the world.
"The lowest moments (last year) came from the fact that I wasn't healthy and couldn't put in the time on and off the course that I wanted and needed to, and that was frustrating", Woods said of his debilitating injuries.
He continued, "I was playing with pain and that isn't fun. The last couple of months have been really fun and that is mostly because I am feeling healthy again and building week on week".
Woods is now gearing up for his season-opening Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, where he will face some of the top-ranked players, such as Luke Donald, Rory McIlroy and the defending champion, Martin Kaymer.
Abu Dhabi Championship is part of the European Tour’s early season Desert Swing and is scheduled to take place from January 26 to 29, 2012.
Woods announced his participation in the event last month, when he preferred it to the Farmer’s Insurance Open in Torrey Pines, an event he always liked to kick off the season with.
His performance in Abu Dhabi will show whether he has really found his lost form. However, if he fails to perform better, his hard-earned victory in the Chevron World Challenge may go down the drain.
Woods was also spectacular in the last quarter of 2011, as he finished third in the Australian Open and assisted his American team in grabbing the Presidents Cup.
He is now eager to astound his opponents who succeeded to draw the spotlight during his two-year absence from the golf scene.
"I am looking to get off to a fast start in Abu Dhabi and keep building from there," Woods said. "Now that I am healthy, I feel I can keep building my game and confidence week on week".
There are plenty of young talented players in the field of golf and Woods will have to go head-to-head with them to get his status of the “golfing giant” back.
He will have to face Donald and McIlroy, who astounded the golf followers with their spectacular performances in 2011.
It may be difficult for the former world number one to reclaim his No.1 spot in the Official World Golf Rankings.
Currently, he is ranked 23th according to the World Golf Rankings. However, it remains to be seen whether he will be able to improve his standing or not.
