It might be a shameful year for the worlds greatest golfer, but his story has been nominated as the most thrilling, by the U.S. Associated Press.
U.S. Associated Press decided to hold polls in its vicinity on Friday regarding the most selling story of the current year. The votes were cast by the members of the U.S. news organisations that make up the AP's membership. The
votes were counted in the evening by a bench of members appointed for the cause.
176 votes were cast, and voters were asked to rank the top sports stories of the season, with the most thrilling story getting 10 points, the second-place story receiving nine points, and so on.
Woods thriller got the maximum points ranging 1,316, whereas, the New Orleans Saints' debut Super bowl title received 1,215 and the NBA free-agency frenzy bagged the third position with 1,085 points.
The legendary golfer has been in the limelight ever since the age of five, when he arrived at the Michael Douglas show with his father Earl Woods. Since then on, Tiger had been a show stealer at majors, World Golf Championships
and Ryder Cups. He won 14 majors and retained the world number one ranking for five consecutive years.
However, on the night of Thanksgiving Tiger’s little secret was unveiled, which later resulted in his divorce. The former world number one took a break of three months in 2010 after which he failed to pick any titles. The 34-year-old
American lost his swings and hired the services of Sean Foley, who helped him fight against the odds. Bare foot practice got Tiger into the Ryder Cup, after which he took the road to revival. The veteran smashed 64 in the last round of the JB Were Australian
Masters and finished as runner-up in the Chevron World Challenge.
After being the headliner for every newspaper for several months, Tiger Woods amazing saga has been voted as the number one story of the year by the U.S. Associated Press. Woods might have lost the title, but his story gets him
plenty of attention, with its fair share of s*x, drama, and betrayal.
