Tiger Woods aims to continue his good run of form
With Greenbrier Classic about to begin, Tiger Woods is hoping to become the first player to win four trophies this season. Tiger has been in good form since the US Open, and he clinched his third title at the AT&T National, at the Congressional Golf and
Country Club.
The motivation to win the most number of PGA titles still drives Tiger on. Woods is chasing the record of Sam Snead for the highest number of wins at the PGA Tour.
Tiger has 74 wins as compared to Snead’s 82. Judging by the recent results, it would be a big surprise if Tiger fails to beat Sam Snead’s record in a few years’ time.
Few months back, many considered Tiger to be down and out but he fought back like a true champion and since then, it has been no turning back.
Sam Snead has been associated with the Old White TPC Course for about a good 47 years. He worked here as a resort’s golf pro till 1974.
A few days back, Tiger visited the course where Sam used to play, hoping that it would drive him to gain further success.
“This tournament since its inception has been absolutely incredible,” Woods said. “I knew about the history of (the resort) from Sam and how much he loved coming here and loved being here”.
Tiger missed last year’s Greenbrier Classic due to an injury. The tournament fits perfectly in his schedule and this time around, he is looking to bag in his fourth trophy.
Tiger has had the experience of playing with Sam Snead once, it was in Los Angeles when Tiger was 5-years-old. Sam used to play every two holes with a new group and Tiger happened to be in one of the groups.
“I still have the card at home,” Woods said.
Tiger has been full of praise for the late Snead. Throughout the time they spent together, Tiger said that he used to tell stories and he was very funny person to be around. This was one of the things Tiger liked about Sam Snead.
Can Tiger defy his critics once again, is yet to be seen. However, the message from Tiger is that he is here to stay.
