Tiger Woods all out to support his niece Cheyenne Woods in her professional career
While Tiger Woods half brothers might be earning him a bad name, the diligent uncle is eager to help her niece Cheyenne Woods to reach the zenith of her professional career and does not shy away from speaking about her on public forums.
The former world number one, known for keeping a tight lid over the details of his personal life, is hopeful that Cheyenne is all set to kick off a brilliant professional career.
He was speaking at his newly-adopted social media interaction with his fans and media ahead of the Memorial, expressed his satisfaction over Cheyenne’s recent struggles and achievements.
He said, "I'm very proud of her. She hit her first golf ball in the same garage I started, and to see her progress, and quite frankly grow up into a woman, it's exciting to see how she's changed over the years and matured as a person”.
This may come as a surprise to the Tiger critics around the world who criticise the former world number one on almost all counts.
Cheyenne will be turning professional in the near future after following a blistering career at Wake Forest University and is now hoping to secure playing status on the LPGA.
She recently spoke about her achievements in the sport and revealed that the 21-year-old will be joining the Excel Sports Management company which also has her uncle in the clientele.
Apparently Cheyenne was successful in sealing a contract with the Excel on her Uncle’s approval and help and Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg played a crucial role to close the contract.
He said, "We are excited about the opportunity to represent Cheyenne. She had an outstanding career at Wake Forest and has the chance to be a major star on the women's golf scene".
Woods currently lives in his newly build mansion in Jupiter Island Florida and after the divorce, he has not been much of a family man.
He is now heading for the second major title of the season, the US Open where he will be pitching to land the title for the fourth time in his stellar career.
Woods brought an end to his 30-month long winless drought with his victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March this year.
