Tiger Woods and Justin Rose paired again at the Open Championship
The groupings for the first two rounds have been announced for the Open Championship, being played at Royal Lytham golf course in Lancashire. There have been many interesting pairings but probably the most interesting group is Tiger Woods’.
Justin Rose and Tiger Woods have been placed in the same group again, at the Open Championship. They will be joined by the Spaniard Sergio Garcia.
This is the fourth time that Tiger and Rose have been placed in the same group at the Open Championship. Previously they have been together at Muirfield in 2002, Carnoustie in 2007 and St Andrews two years ago.
This is group is pretty interesting as all the three players are very competitive and it will be easy going out there for the three because Tiger and Rose are quite familiar with each other.
Among the other notable pairings, Rory Mcllroy is placed in the same group with Louis Oosthuizen and Keegan Bradley. This is a pretty tough group as all the three players are previous major winners.
However, all eyes will be on Luke Donald and Lee Westwood, carrying the English hopes this summer at the Open Championship. It was Tony Jacklin who was the last British golfer to win the Open Championship on English soil back in 1969.
Lee is placed with Bubba Watson and the little known Japanese star Yoshinori Fujimoto. Whereas Luke Donald will be teeing off along with the likes of Phil Mickelson.
Many pundits have backed the English duo of Luke and Lee to do well at this year’s Open Championship. Experts say that it is probably Lee’s best chance to win a major, as he has the game needed to be successful at the Royal Lytham Golf Club.
Tiger’s group might spark a life time performance from him as he is unfazed by the challenges. Rose and Garcia will provide some challenge to Tiger. This will suit him as this might drive him towards victory.
Justin Rose feels that playing alongside is no more a difficult task. "Tiger has been on tour a long time now and a lot of guys have had a chance to play with him regularly," he said.
