Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods are paired for the US Open and Mickelson has been extremely excited about playing with his favourite partner.
Mickelson is positive about his form and is eyeing the US Open with ease and delight. With the presence of Woods beside him, Mickelson believes that this pairing would get the best out of him as a golfer.
The 41-year-old golfer is a 40-times PGA Tour winner and holds Woods in the highest regards as a golfer. He believes that the only man who can actually beat him is Woods.
“First of all, I get excited to play with Tiger. I love it. He gets the best out of me... Second is, the one player I’m most concerned about if I play my best golf that may have a chance to beat me is Tiger,” said Phil Mickelson.
Tiger Woods has faced plenty of criticism lately because of his poor form. This era of bad golf ended when Woods won the Memorial Tournament in the most amazing fashion.
The unbelievable flip-birdie, amazing precision play and the peaking confidence took Woods back to his golden days as he lifted the Memorial trophy.
Jack Nicklaus has been a helping hand in Woods’ improvement. “The Golden Bear” has been extremely supportive of the former world number one and believes that he will score high in the upcoming games that include the US Open.
“I suspect (major title) No. 15 will come for Tiger Woods in about two weeks, if he drives the ball this way, and plays this way, I'm sure it will. And if not, it will surprise me greatly,” predicted Nicklaus earlier on.
Mickelson has been consistent with his golf and has stayed among the top golfers. Besides that, lefty has been busy buying his hometown baseball team, which has kept him outside the world of golf.
Woods looks strong in his game. He has been pretty serious about the US Open and has not been vocal about his participation in the event.
Mickelson and Woods duo will re-ignite their rivalry, yet, for both of them to pair up, is an entertainment in itself.
