Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy co favourites for the Deutsche Bank Trophy
There was a time when Tiger Woods used to dominate the odds for each and every tournament. People used to bet on him blindly but this is not the case anymore. Tiger is still at the top but he has a new competitor in the shape of Rory McIlroy.
For the second time in a row, it has happened that Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy are the favourites to win the championship.
At the start of The Barclays, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy were tipped to be the favourites for the championship.
They were 7/1 for the title but both of them were not in contention on Sunday. Nick Watney was the surprise winner at The Barclays.
At the Deutsche Bank Open, both of them are favourites again, with odds favouring a 10/1 victory for the two. Their odds have decreased, considering their performance at The Barclays but due to their immense experience and skill, they are still being tipped
as the favourites.
Unlike the yester years when Tiger was the only one being tipped as the favourite time and again, he now has to face some competition. All this is very good for the game of golf and for the fans too, as there is a great deal more in the game now.
Nick Watney who was the surprise winner at The Barclays failed to impress the pundits as his odds are 40/1. Luke Donald who has not impressed much throughout the year is a 15/1 favourite along with Dustin Johnson.
The Irishman, Ian Poulter who impressed the European Ryder Cup captain Olazabal as he got a place in the Ryder Cup team failed to impress the experts at the playoffs. He is tipped below at 60/1 favourite.
At The Barclays, Tiger Woods had the better of Rory McIlroy. Once again a tough battle is expected between them. Rory is a man in form, where as Tiger is a man with experience and who knows how to dig deep when in tough situations.
It would be interesting to see what approach Rory takes up this time around. Last time, he was too aggressive which cost the title primarily.
