Tiger Woods approaching the US Open, will we see the old Tiger?
The US Open is up ahead as people speculate Tiger Woods and his form prior to the mega event.
The former World number one has been in a tsunami of criticism lately due to his bad form and poor tournament stats. It is justified with his bad press conference behaviour that he displayed a couple of weeks ago.
After all the scandals, bad performances, poor ranking, the Tiger of golf came back at the Memorial Tournament.
He won the tournament in amazing style, with a birdie that will remain in the books as the most brilliant manoeuvre ever witnessed in the world of golf.
Numerous critics believe that the performance Woods gave at Memorial is temporary, however, it goes the other way around.
Woods has been in bad shape, yet, the level of play the former World number one exhibited at the Memorial was outstanding due to one factor, pressure play.
Playing under enormous pressure and coming out as a winner is a trait of legends and Woods is one without a doubt.
The US Open will mark the title defence of World number 2 Rory McIlroy.
McIlroy has faced troubles in the past after losing his number one spot to Luke Donald, the current World number one.
The common aspect between McIlroy and Woods remains the legendary Jack Nicklaus.
Nicklaus helped McIlroy come out of his cave of self pity and made him realise that it is the lack of preparation that is the core cause of his misery. McIlroy took the advice positively and won the St. Jude Classic afterwards.
Similarly, Woods had his share of lessons from “The Golden Bear” and won the Memorial in a classy manner. Nicklaus was extremely precise earlier when he spoke about McIlroy and his upcoming performance at the St. Jude Classic.
Nicklaus has been positive about Woods and believes that his upcoming games will see him coming to the top once again.
“I suspect (major title) No. 15 will come for Tiger Woods in about two weeks, if he drives the ball this way, and plays this way, I'm sure it will. And if not, it will surprise me greatly,” said Nicklaus.
Things are looking pretty smooth for Woods, as he approaches the US Open with a convincing form. If Woods wins the US Open, he sure is coming back to get the World number one spot from Donald.
