Tiger Woods believes he will return to the Masters after recovering from injury – Golf News
The Achilles tendon injury that Tiger Woods suffered during the final round of last week’s Cadillac Championship is no more threatening the 14-time major winner for his participation in the Masters Tournament in April, 2012.
Woods felt severe pain in his Achilles tendon while he teed off on the 12th hole and announced his withdrawal from the event.
It was his first ever withdrawal from the Cadillac Championship in the 11 appearances he made. Moreover, it was more of a disappointment because he never finished out of the top-10 places in the event.
At the time of his injury, speculations were being made that he will miss out the first major event of the year.
However, Woods went to his doctor on the very next day and had a complete medical examination. He tweeted later in the evening, stating the condition of his injury.
“Got good news from doc tonight,” the former world number one tweeted. “Only mild strain of left Achilles. I can resume hitting balls late in week and hopeful for next week”.
According to the latest reports, the soreness and swelling have gone. Woods will be seen on the course again on Friday, practicing for the upcoming Arnold palmer Invitational in the last week of March.
"I'll be there. Don't worry about that," Woods said on Thursday, on "Good Morning, America" to promote a new video game.
According to the golf analysts, Woods should consider resting throughout the rest of the month to completely recover from his injury.
This is the only way Woods can make a better start with an aim to register his 15th major title win of the career.
In his entire professional career, Woods has never missed the Masters and it will be a major setback if he gets injured again while playing the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Apart from Arnold Palmer Invitational, he also plans to make his appearance in the Tavistock Cup, a made-for-TV exhibition, next week.
Among his 17 appearances in the Masters, he succeeded in registering four wins, two second-place finishes and a total of 12 top-10 finishes, which speaks of his stunning track record in the event.
