Tiger Woods caps his round with a 66 at Cadillac Championship – Golf update
Tiger Woods capped the Cadillac Championship with a score of six-under par 66 and walked off the TPC Blue Monster with a 10th place finish.
The world-number five figured out the rhythm on Sunday with the help of a Nike putter and picked seven birdies and one bogey. He matched the lowest score made on Sunday by Rickie Fowler. Woods stepped into Sunday’s round with a four-day aggregate of two-under,
which was not impressive for the player who had won the title six times before. Despite the early disappointment, Woods chose to tee off from the front and successfully birdied the opening hole for the fourth time in a row.  He sandwiched the only bogey of
the round between two birdies on the sixth hole and capped the front nine with a score of 2-under, which lifted his overall score to 4-under and helped him break loose from the tie.
The 35-year-old marched onto the back in a red polo shirt and anchored a pair of birdies starting from the 11th hole. That was only the start of some quality putting. Woods smashed a whooping birdie on the 16th green, which buoyed his
confidence. The result of the morale eventually showed up at next immediate hole, when Woods hit a crisp iron shot at the fairway and it nearly hit the flagstick and stopped few inches away from the cup. The former world-number one missed an attempt on the
eagle, but settled on a birdie.
For the first time in three weeks, the American seemed happy as he flashed his famous smile. He walked towards the media on his way back to the club house and shared some thoughts with the crew. He said, “I hit a lot of good golf shots and when I did miss
hit one, I knew what the fix was right away, boom and I got right back on my run of hitting good shots again. That feels good.”
He seemed satisfied with his swings and added, “It’s definitely getting better, there's no doubt. I'm putting the pieces together."
Woods compiled a 66 in the last round, but that is not the sign to recovery, as he is now getting in the habit of scoring the number once in each tournament. He started building on the trend in the Deutsche bank Championship and took it all the way to the
JB Were Australian Masters. Woods has capped the tournament with a top 10 finish, but will he continue doing so is yet to be seen.
