Anthony Galea, the Canadian doctor who helped Tiger Woods recover from his knee injury using a pioneering "blood-spinning " technique, has been charged with a number of offences relating to the supply of illegal substances.

Galea is accused of smuggling the substances into the US, conspiring to lie to federal officials, unlawfully distributing human growth hormone, conspiracy to defraud and introduction of an unapproved drug, Actovegin, into interstate commerce. If convicted, Galea could face up to 28 years in jail, as well as fines running into millions of dollars.
