Tiger Woods fails to claim his 15th major title
The U.S. PGA Championship has always been catching the eye of the fans. People from all over the world gather to witness this prestigious event every year and this year the stage for the Championship was the Kiawah Island Golf Resort, the Ocean Course.
The biggest names in the world of golf gathered to fight for the trophy. As in every tournament there were some favorites in this one as well. For this tournament, as always, Tiger Woods was one of the top contenders.
He had come to this event with two goals in mind - he wanted to regain the top spot in the world ranking and wanted to get close to Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 major titles.
Woods has bagged 14 titles till now and was looking to close down the gap between himself and the legendary Jack Nicklaus.
Woods had quite a decent start to the tournament. He performed well on the first two days. On the first day of the tournament, Woods carded six birdies and three bogeys which made his score three-under par for the day.
On the second day, the American professional golfer scored three birdies and two bogeys. These made his score one-under par for the day and his total score climbed up to four-under par.
After the two rounds of magnificent golf, Woods managed to occupy the third first position on the leaderboard.
The rest of the tournament did not go as Woods had planned. He had a particularly bad start to the third round of the tournament.
He only scored four bogeys on the front nine of the round. He played much better on the back nine, as he was able to score three birdies and just one bogey.
The last day was not as special for the 14-time major winner. He carded two birdies on the front nine and then later on carded two bogeys on the back nine.
After the fourth round at Kiawah Island, Woods had a score of two-under par. He finished tied on the 11th spot and was eleven strokes behind the top of the leaderboard.
