Tiger Woods fights back at Tour Championship
It has been very predictable with Tiger Woods this season. His performances on the field have been very similar. A similar sort of script is being followed at the East Lake as well.
After a dismissal second round, Woods fought back with a commanding third round, to leave himself with a decent chance for a victory on Sunday.
The former world number one shot three-under, 67 to finish at T7 after 54-holes.
The American was ranked second coming in to the Tour Championship. A victory at East Lake would guarantee his third FedEx Cup title and earn him the $10 million purse.
Tiger Woods is currently four shots behind the joints leaders, Brandt Snedeker and Justin Rose. Snedeker shot a brilliant six-under, 64 to put himself in pole position for his first FedEx Cup.
For Woods, money is not the driving the factor. Being a professional golfer, it is the victory that counts and the money just comes with it.
Not very long ago, Woods surpassed $100 million earning mark, but it is the glory that matters to the legend.
Woods is only four shots behind. He is quite confident that he can shoot another low round on Sunday and win the Tour Championship.
"I've done it before," Woods said, when asked how he was able to come back from his 73 in the second round and remain confident.
"I've been out here a long time, and you just claw your way back into it, and usually I'll take a round in the 60s. I figured the guys aren't going to go out and run off and hide on this golf course. It's just playing too difficult”.
The fourteen-time major winner knows that it will not be easy on Sunday but he is certainly not giving up.
"... As of right now I'm four back, so we'll see how that stacks up at the end of the day. But right now it looks like I've got a shot at in (Sunday)," he stated.
Even if Tiger Woods finishes fifth, and other results go his way, the FedEx Cup would be his for the third time since 2007.
