Tiger Woods finishes The Players Championship on the 40th position, his second-worst finish of 2012

Tiger Woods finished tied for the 40th position at the Players Championship, his second-worst finish of the PGA Tour in the current year.
The 36-year-old American was unable to impress the spectators and his fans at the TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
“I felt like I did it well in spurts again,” said Woods, who finished at 1-under 287. “I just need to be a little bit more consistent”.
Woods started the tournament early on Thursday, and shot a 2-over 74 in the first round of the mega event. He carded five bogeys and three birdies in total.
He somehow managed to reach among the top leaders and shot a 4-under 68 in the second round on Friday. He only carded two bogeys and scored six birdies.
In the third round on Saturday, he finished an equal-par score as he shot two birdies and bogeys. Then in the final round, the former number one golfer displayed a mediocre performance once again, like he did on Thursday.
He shot three bogeys, one double-bogey and four birdies in total. His inconsistent score dragged him down and he recorded his second-worst finish of the year 2012.
“I’ve just got to play the par 5s better than I did,” Woods said. “That’s something I didn’t do. I had a lot of irons into the par 5s and didn’t take care of them”.
He added:
“I’m starting to hit the ball up in the air again, and doing it correctly. Some of the way I used to do it, how I used to add the loft through impact on the way down, just trying to get that out of there still. I’m able to start hitting it up in the air
again, and sending it with confidence”.
His performance at the Masters Tournament, the first major of the year, was also unimpressive. He finished the event on the same 40th position and was also unable to compete against other rivals.
Woods has to improve his putting and focus on being consistent in order to record good scores in future tournaments.
If he improves his performance, he can win in the near future, while consistent scores will also help him regain his lost glory.
