Tiger Woods’ former wife Elin Nordegren destroys $12-million mansion acquired from the infamous lawsuit
Tiger Woods’ former wife, Elin Nordegren churned up billows of dust when she eventually decided to raze the $12-million mansion she won in a court battle against the former world number one.
Woods’ Swedish wife, Nordegren, who applied for a divorce after Wood’s formal apology for his years of philandering, purchased the multi-million dollar mansion in the Seminole Landing development near North Palm Beach from the $100-mllion she won for the damages in the law suit.
The 17,000-square-foot home, built in 1932, comprised of six spacious rooms, eight bathrooms as well as an elevator and overlooked the scenic Palm Beach.
Nordegren, who also has the joint custody of the two sons, Charlie and Sam Alexis, has decided to stay in the US instead of flying back to Sweden.
Many of the critics have rendered the decision as reckless and condemned Nordegren for laying waste to huge and expensive property.
They claimed that the scrap from the house alone could have been effectively used for the construction of make-shift houses for the homeless and several other purposes.
There are others who consider it her rightful choice to either keep the property or raze it to the ground. The house was almost 100 years old and had already done its time.
Nordegren and Woods remained happily married for six long years, since their engagement in 2003.
Nordegren was a former model and daughter of former minister of migration, Barbro Holmberg, and radio journalist Thomas Nordegren.
Woods met Nordegren during the 2001 Open Championship when she was first introduced to Woods by the Swedish golfer, Jesper Parnevik.
Woods and Nordegren got married on October 5, 2004, at Sandy Lane resort on the Caribbean Island of Barbados.
Stories about Woods infidelities first surfaced in 2009, when The National Enquirer published a story regarding Woods secret affair with New York nightclub manager, Rachel Uchitel.
Things quickly went out of control as Woods’ career and personal life took a deep plunge with several of his extramarital affairs came into the limelight.
Woods eventually decided to render a public apology for his philandering in February 2010 at the PGA Headquarters in Florida.
He admitted that he had been unfaithful to his wife and thought that he can get away with whatever he did in his personal life.
Nordegren and Woods finally got divorced on August 23, 2010, and went on their separate ways after an association of six years.
Since then, Woods has been struggling to regain his top form in the sport but with little luck.
His back-to-back failures pushed him out of the top-50 on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) for the first time in 15 years.
However, he finally managed a breakthrough at the season-ending Chevron World Challenge in 2011, winning the tournament after a lapse of two years.
Woods later moved to a new property he bought earlier in 2011 at Jupiter Island, where the huge mansion is also equipped with a state-of-the-art golf facility. He currently resides with his two sons who are under joint custody of both the parents.
