Tiger Woods frustrated with not winning majors, as he goes for US PGA Championship
Tiger Woods is considered to be one of the most successful players in the modern golf. He has achieved so much till now and still, is not stopping. He is 36 years old right now and still playing very well.
Till now he has bagged 14 major titles and 101 professional wins. Out of these 101 wins, 74 came just from the PGA Tour.
The American professional golfer has won every major event at least three times. The last major which he won was four years ago, when he won the U.S. Open in the year 2008.
Apparently, 14 majors are not enough for Woods. He wants to be the best and is in search of breaking the record of Jack Nicklaus, of 18 major titles.
In the year 2010, Woods had a very bad spell, in which fans thought that it is the end for the great Tiger Woods. Nonetheless, the American professional golfer bounced back from the rough patch and soon got into his winning form again.
At that time, he fell as low as 58 in the official world ranking in 2011. Currently, he is on the number 2 spot, just behind the English professional golfer, Luke Donald.
Tiger Woods is back in his old form and is playing good golf but he still has not won a major in a while. In an interview he said, “I've played in three majors this year and didn't win any of them. Things have progressed but not winning a major doesn't feel
very good”.
The last 16 majors were won by 16 different players. The list also includes Americans Bubba Watson and Webb Simpson, who bagged the majors for the first time.
Woods also said, “Golf's getting deep, there are so many guys with a chance to win and that's kind of how sport is, the margin is getting smaller”.
“There may have been 16 different winners but what you have to look at is the cuts are getting lower,” he added.
This Thursday, Woods will be looking to add one more major to his list of achievements at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort, the Ocean Course, where he goes head to head with the best in the world for the US PGA Championship.
