Tiger Woods gives an insight of his secret strategy for the upcoming US Open
A 14-major-winner and a three-time US Open champion, Tiger Woods remain one of the top bets for the upcoming US Open at the Olympic Golf Club despite of his lingering form vows for a considerable time.
Woods was finally able to break his winless streak earlier this year when he landed the Arnold Palmer Invitational and finally soared back in the top-ten on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR).
But what happened later on was barely expected from the former world number one.
Woods stepped on the Augusta National, brimming with confidence, hoping to clinch his fifth green jacket of the coveted Masters.
Instead, the 36-year-old fell for the lowest finish ever in his career, a joint 40th.
He reappeared at the Players Championship where he does not have an impressive record and succumbed to another lowest finish of his career at the TPC Sawgrass, another joint 40th.
Despite of his consecutive losses, Woods is confident that he will be able to tackle the treacherous Olympic Golf Club.
Addressing Q&A session through his social network interaction with his fans ahead of the Memorial, Woods said that he is still adjusting to the cold weather of the area which is in total contrast to his home in Florida.
He said, "It's just a golf course where you have to have an overall game plan, but you also have to be very flexible. Obviously, these conditions change here, playing so close to the ocean and how damp it is. The ball is not going to fly very far. It was
49 degrees this morning, so it was very different from practicing at home in Florida. ... I had forgotten how cold it can get here”.
Woods missed the US Open last year following his injury that was further aggravated at the Players Championship last year and the former world number one was seen limping off the course.
He also missed the Open Championship and returned for the PGA Championship only to miss the halfway cut.
He will be battling against a tough European line-up of players which are currently ruling the top three spots on the OWGR.
Also part of the field will be some of the raging American players of the likes of Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Jason Dufner, Matt Kuchar and Hunter Mahan, all of whom have won a title on PGA Tour this year.
