Tiger Woods happy with his progress on the PGA Tour, despite remaining winless in majors
Despite the fact that the former world number one, Tiger Woods, has not won a single major championship in four years, he is happy to move in the right direction by winning three PGA Tour events this year.
In 2011, he suffered an Achilles tendon injury and spent three months off the course. Moreover, he also missed two of the four major events last year.
In the meantime, he was also winless for about two years on the PGA Tour, entering the 2012 golf season.
That was a time when he was strongly criticized by many in the golf community throughout the world. Most of them believed that his career had come to an end, especially due to the dissolution of his marriage and injury issues.
However, he proved his critics wrong by making a strong charge in the Official World Golf Rankings and surged to the second spot, entering the Tour Championship, scheduled this week.
Moreover, he also secured the second place in the FedEx Cup standings, heading into the final leg of the PGA Tour Playoffs.
If he succeeds in recording a victory this week, he will be able to replace Rory McIlroy on the top. Moreover, it will then be the third time in his career that he will be raising the FedEx Cup.
According to the 14-time major champion, the winless streak in majors does not matter much to him if he continues to play well in different tournaments around the world.
"This has been a really good season to come back from last year, not being able to play at all, and then being able to train properly and practise properly," Woods said. "Hence I'm producing the results I know I can produce”.
“I've made some great strides this year. I went from probably most of my career not being a very good driver of the ball to now being one of the better ones out here on tour,” he added.
"That is exciting for me. That is one of the reasons why my scoring average is where it's at right now. I've been very consistent”.
