Tiger Woods hates Hank Haney and the Belly-putters
Tiger Woods has expressed his dismay over the extended use of long-putters and have suggested a ban on the controversial club altogether.
Calling himself a “traditionalist”, Woods advocated the fact that swing of the shoulders and the whole body while making a shot is what normally defines the game.
If this posture of shot playing is taken out of the sport, there is little left to bank on anymore.
He came out with his scathing comments on the use of the Long-putter speaking with The Sydney Morning Herald and said:
"My idea was to have it so that the putter would be equal to or less than the shortest club in your bag. And I think with that, we'd be able to get away from any type of belly anchoring”.
Woods has once again surged at the top of the headlines all over the world, not only because of his recent regained form and momentum but also because of his recent comments on his former coach Hank Haney.
Haney is in the process of launching his first book regarding the years he spent with the 14-major-winner, training and monitoring his activities.
Woods has severely criticised Haney’s decision of revealing his secrets in public and said that it is a breach of the code of conduct.
The book is expected to hit the bookstores right ahead of the Masters and critics fear it will have a phenomenal impact on Woods performance at Augusta National.
Belly-putter or the Long-putter and also the Broom-putter, have been under scathing criticism for several years now.
PGA Championship winner Keegan Bradley won his first major title in his rookie year, using a belly putter, triggering huge uproar over the use of the club.
Although PGA Tour and European Tour have no restrictions regarding the use of long putters at the moment, some of the big wigs of the sport are already gearing up to launch a campaign against the same.
He added, "I believe it's (putting) the art of controlling the body and club and swinging the pendulum motion. That's how it should be played. I'm a traditionalist when it comes to that”.
Woods also revealed that he has contacted the Royal and Ancient over the matter and has supported a ban on the controversial club.
