Tiger Woods in pursuit of a major win
The year 2012 proved to be fruitful for the American golf professional, Tiger Woods. He won three titles on the US Professional Golf Association Tours earlier this year and ended a winless phase that prolonged for two consecutive years.
He has set higher goals for the upcoming season, despite the fact that he just managed to get back up from a low point of his highly prosperous golfing career.
Having won numerous titles in his career, Woods said that the feel of winning a major championship has a completely different dimension to it.
He went on and stated that it is one of the most prized moments in a golfer’s career. Woods said that he still thrives for more major title wins.
The last time Woods won a major championship was way back in 2008, when he won the US Open.
The record holder for most major wins is held by one of the golf pioneers, Jack Nicklaus. He has won 18 majors, whereas Woods has won 14.
Woods said that the record is definitely on his mind and he will go out on the fairways next season and get some more major titles in the bag.
Woods said, "I still feel I have some of my best golf to play and in order to do that, I had to be healthy, and this year is headed in the right direction". He continued, "I'm very excited about next year".
In another statement he said, "Rory is ranked number one. He deserves it. He's won tournaments all around the world.
"He's had high finishes on top of that, and that's how you do it.... He should be very proud of the season he's had, and I'm sure he's excited about what next year holds for him, as well".
2012 was expected to be a better year for the American, as he finished his 2011 season with some splendid performances on the fairways. Furthermore, the 36-year-old showed better results this year than he had in the previous few years.
While commenting on his game, Woods said that he has been hitting the ball better than he was and that he has been practicing on his chipping and putting.
Woods was caught up in a painful divorce when his ex-wife filed for divorce in 2010.
The American had to face some tough times, as his marriage life was falling apart. He even took some time off from golf to fix his marriage but all his efforts proved to be futile.
Coming back from such a difficult phase of his life, Woods has to focus on his golf now in order to achieve the targets he has set for himself.
