Tiger Woods must improve his putting and chipping
At the US Open, Tiger Woods’ short game let him down, he could not manage to chip and put well enough and eventually ended up finishing 21st.
With Tiger chasing a few records and also looking for a third tour win, he must focus on this part of his game if he wants to win more tournaments.
Chipping and putting are a very important part of a golfer’s game. If he can put and chip well, then it will be very easy for him to score pars and birdies.
With AT&T National starting and Tiger chasing his third title of the season, the former world number one must improve his short game in order to win the tournament.
Last time around, it was in 2009 when Tiger won the AT&T National, the tournament which he hosts himself. He had missed the next few events due to injuries.
About his US Open performance, he said, “I did not particularly chip or putt well that week, something that I had done at Memorial. I did not make anything from 15-20 feet”.
“I made a bunch of putts from eight to 10 feet and in, but I did not make any other putts”.
Somebody advised Tiger to use a long putter that might help him. Following the advice, Tiger tried that but he found it very uncomfortable.
He explained that those long putters are not very smooth and they do not give a perfect feel.
Tiger Woods is pretty confident that his style of play is very good indeed. He feels comfortable while performing his swing and the overall flow of his body is very smooth, which gives a very nice feel.
On the prospect of playing at the Congressional Golf and Country Club, he said, “I am looking forward to getting out there and taking a look at some of the changes they have made. Absolutely I want to win”.
If Tiger can win at least one more title, then he will surpass the likes of Jack Nicklaus and will be on the second spot, in the number of wins on PGA Tour.
Currently, they both are tied on having 73 victories but, with Tiger not appearing to slow down, he will surely achieve this feat.
Meanwhile, it is Sam Snead who has the highest number of PGA victories.
