Tiger Woods need an extraordinary round to win his sixth World Challenge
Tiger Woods shot a second consecutive round of 69 on Saturday to keep his hopes of winning his sixth World Challenge title alive.
The American could not shoot a low round on Saturday due to soggy conditions at the Sherwood Golf and Country Club. For the past couple of days the conditions have been overcast. There was also a slight drizzle yesterday, which made the greens extremely
wet.
"It's wet, it's long and it's hard to get the ball close," said Woods. "You have to hit so much club to try and keep the spin off the golf ball. Some of those pins were difficult to get at".
The Irishman, Graeme McDowell was unfazed by the difficult conditions, as he continued to shine in the Tiger Woods hosted event.
Bradley felt comfortable on Saturday as well, carding five-under for the day but he could not shoot a bogey free round as McDowell did.
It was unlike Woods on Saturday, as he blamed the conditions slightly for his below standard performance. Although he is not yet out of contention, as he just five shots behind the leader, he needs to put a Tiger Woods show on Sunday to pull a miracle.
"I missed a lot of opportunities, consequently I'm not in double-digits and not closer to the lead," said Woods.
Woods was once again slow on the front nine as he carded a birdie and a bogey. However, he turned things around very nicely on the back nine.
He birdied the first hole but then failed to make an impression after that. "I hit it just a fraction too hard on my second shot with a little 9-iron," he said.
The former world number one carded three birdies on the last five holes to finish off with three-under for the day.
Tiger needs to shift his gears early on Sunday and shoot a round in the mid 60s to have any chance of winning the title at the Sherwood Golf and Country Club. The world number three must take advantage of the par-5s which he has failed to do so far.
Being a five-time winner and the host of the tournament he should be doing better than this.
