Tiger Woods - possible reasons for an unsuccessful season
The development of a player from a rookie to successful pro requires years of hard work. While on this road to glory in a player’s career comes a time when odds are against him and nothing goes according to his likeliness. This time can very much be compared to the hardships in life one faces and then no matter what he cannot run away. However the person, who comes on top at the end and battles his way past this time, is surely a great player, a legend to be honest according to experts.
Tiger Woods is one player who is going through the same phase not only in his golfing career but also his personal life. The question that we will be trying to answer is that what happened to the World No.1 with 14 Majors and 71 PGA Tour legendary winner Tiger Woods. While answering this question, should we consult his statistics or question his state of mind and composure? Tiger is not in the media for the form he is in now days but mainly for involvement in a s*x scandal.
The main question is that how he deals with this and can he manage to overcome the hardships that he is facing? And be the only dominating golfer on the course as he used to be?
The differentiating factor between a golfer and great golfer are the abilities of a golfer to trust his putting. The British Open saw a Tiger playing in a stiff posture, uncomfortable ball control and most importantly poor putting fluency; on which the golfer himself said that he was trying to concentrate on golf but something keeps on clicking in his mind of something else going wrong regarding his life in a press conference.
One of the greatest golfer’s fourth place finishes at the Masters and the U.S Open shows the sort of form the once World No.1 golfer is going through. One of the reasons might be his loss in confidence while putting. The once dominating golfer had no control over any of the golfing essentials to win during the British Open and showed the sort of form he is currently in.
The hardships of life not only extend to divorce settlements with his wife but also parting ways with his old putter. Moreover, it might be before several rounds before the replacement and Tiger established a strong relation that too unlike the past one given the one decade they spent together.
Tiger is one of those golfers who used to take his time and steady himself while getting ready for a tee. Tee is one of those shots that requires full mental presence and you should be able to visualize your target in golf. Though Tiger was not a master of this but he often came up with pin point shots. However, the latest British Open saw him hurrying through the tee and his tee was more like those players who pray and hope that the ball somehow manages to reach the fairway. This resulted in Tiger coming up with not so accurate shots and left him trailing.
Another important shot in golf is near the pin. This shot may seem to be very easy but actually is very complicated requiring both, proper mechanics and the ability to execute the shot. Though the 14 time major winner was expected to win after his improved performances recently yet he could not find the perfect touch. Tiger lately has not been able to finish off the job completely though his confidence is sky high leading up to the shot. His low self confidence in his shot may be one of the reasons he is not able to come out on top.
Though Tiger Woods is not playing as he expected to but he undoubtedly is one of the greatest golfers. Coupled with the fact that he makes mistakes, this is also a fact that he is one of the greatest recovery players.
Tiger has God gifted talent and tons of experience that allows him to play shots from anywhere and from every angle. He can hit shots high, below the trees, swing it around the trees and sometimes hit them hard and still manage pin point targeting. His diverse abilities crown him the King of the era in the sport.
The mental state he is in currently maybe a reason that hinders him from winning the most at the moment. Though he wants to be on the winning road again but the stories that keep coming up and criticism seem to break this player’s confidence mentally affecting his abilities on the golf course.
